GREAT PICS FROM THE TRIAD OMNIUM

Paul Paisant sent us these great shots from the Triad Omnium last weekend. Check out Julie Paisant (in her first race ever) leading the pack and the utterly intimidating look on her face in the time trial. I think we'll see her racing more in the future.

PACELINE RIDE TO MT. VENTOUX GREAT SUCCESS

Eric Morrison and Brian Lee led a ride up Mt. Ventoux recently. As you can see, not many Paceliners were up for the challenge.





Look how happy they are to be at the top. That's Eric in the picture...Brian was looking for the sodas and cookies apparently.

Hekman Dominates!

Toshiba-Santo strongman Mark Hekman showed the form he displayed in 2007 by winning Saturday’s fourth annual Iron Hill Twilight Criterium in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Hekman, who held the lead in the 2007 USA CRITS Series until a crash at Downers Grove ended his pursuit of the title, lapped this year’s Iron Hill field with 20 laps remaining in the 60-lap event, run on a 1km course.

“I got away on the 10th lap and just crushed it." Hekman said. "This is a really technical course with the hill on the back side and I thought I was going to die.”

A few days prior to Iron Hill, Hekman switched to a 54-tooth chain ring; he felt the change helped him power away from the competition on a warm, humid Pennsylvania day, leaving the others to fight for the remaining spots on the podium.

With 15 laps to go, Hekman’s teammate, 2007 USA CRITS champ Frank Travieso, made a bid for a cash prime, marked by Time Pro Cycling’s David Guttenplan, and the twosome never looked back. Guttenplan took second with Travieso third.

Bikes make great Birthday gifts...

Check out the big smile on Stacy Jones' face. Her husband, Ron, sent her by the shop to "pick up her forgetful husband's sunglasses" and surprised her with a shiny new road bike.

We think she liked the bow almost as much as she liked the bike.

Paceline and Greensboro Parks celebrate National Trails Day

It was so hot on Trails Day that Scott and Gerry melted right off their bikes.









Oh, wait. There's Gerry now chilling out on a cool refreshing "Lime".

We knew he could ride and fix bikes but who would have thought....

Curtis caught this huge fish in a local pond Saturday night. I guess we know what he's having for dinner tonight...and tomorrow night, too.

Riding On The Sun

That's what our Monday night ride was like. At 6:00 it was still 96 degrees and not getting any cooler. Those of you who braved the heat know first hand. Despite the weather we still had a great ride and no one got dehydrated which is easy to do if you're not careful. You can lose 2 or more liters of fluid per hour on a hot day. Make sure you stay hydrated.

Come out Saturday morning at 8:00 and 8:15 for our weekly ride. It's looking to be a little cooler this weekend. Sunny and nice.
