Paul Evans is ready for Spring

Paul chose his Madone 5.5 for the Force components and the hot color. They call this color "Speed Yellow" and Paul is chomping at the bit to see if it's true. It looks like there's no more snow in the forecast so he should find out soon.

First Ride - This is an great bike. I have been riding a Trek 5900 for the past 4 years and loved it! My new Madone 5.5 outshines the 5900 in all areas. It handles with precision, is lighter and stiffer in the bottom bracket area and very comfortable on the road.

At my age I need every ounce of energy to be translated to forward motion. On the trainer I could see my 5900 bottom bracket flex with each pedal stroke. Not so for the new Madone. The Sram force components work great (I upgraded to a Sram Force complact crank). It took about 10 minutes to get used to the shifters. Having one lever do it all with the "double tap" motion is very different but becoes intuitive. The hoods are designed very well and are comfortable. Shfting is precise though with the shifts there is a bit more noise (compared to the Dura Ace) as the chain moves up and down the rear cassette.

My riding style is more reflective of "mellow yellow" vrs "sped yellow as Trek describes the color. I cannot wait to get this bike to the mountains. 3 Mths to Mitchell!!
